(一)英语介绍信的定义和类型

1.介绍信的定义

通过对某人的情况介绍让收信人对被介绍人有一定的了解,并使他们相互认识,从而解决被介绍人的一些实际问题,这样的英语书信就是介绍信。

2.介绍信的类型

(1)正式介绍信(formal letter introduction)

正式介绍信一般是写信人因为公事将自己本单位本部门的某人或业务关系人介绍给某单位或某个人,从而处理一些同公务有关的事宜或进行业务接洽。这种介绍信格式要求规范、严谨,语气比较正式、庄重。

(2)非正式介绍信(informal letter of introduction)

这是一种个人与个人之间交流的介绍信,用以介绍朋友相互认识,介绍某人前往办理事务,或有什么事请朋友帮忙,等等。这种介绍信一般从词语的选用到行文都较随意。

(二)介绍信的内容和写作注意事项

1.介绍信的内容

(1)被介绍人的基本情况

不管由于公事还是由于私事,介绍信应首先介绍前去联系的人的基本情况。所谓基本情况主要包括被介绍人的姓名、职务、与写信人的关系等。

(2)介绍的原因和目的

向收信人说明被介绍人前往是为了开展什么工作,办理什么事情,需要收信人给予哪些具体帮助或照顾等。

(3)表示谢意

预先对对方可能给予的帮助或照顾表示感谢。

2.介绍信写作的注意事项

介绍信写作的格式同一般书信大致相同,但一般不必写信头和信内地址,而只在右上角处注明写信的时间即可。

介绍信在选词上要客气,请求他人帮忙不可用命令的口吻。一定要预先在文中向收信人表示感谢,做到不失礼节。

介绍信篇幅无需太长,文字要简洁,语言要流畅。

一、 现象与问题

由于到目前为止,高中英语口语在全国绝大部分省市并没有纳入大学入学考试范畴,所以多数高中英语教师把英语语音教学列入无关紧要的地位,声称当学生把语言整体技能提高之后,语音自然会得到发展。同时,也有这样一种较为普遍的观点:学生们在语音学习上的困难和不足必然会成为影响学生进行英语有效学习的绊脚石。当然,我们高中英语语音教学的目的是要使学生的发音尽可能地标准、地道,但是否有必要或可能让每个学生都达到本地人的发音标准呢?这很大程度上取决于学生本身的素质,而且若是学习者在超过了他们学习英语的最佳时期――“关键期”时,他们是无法达到那种与本地人一样的水平的。

二、语音教学目标

尽管这样,《普通普通高中英语课程标准》(实验)仍对学生的语音学习作出了要求。如书中对语言技能目标八级的说的技能阐明如下:“能在交流中使用恰当的语调、语气和节奏表达个人的意图和情感等。”那么,真正的语音教学应该包括哪些方面呢?总的来说,最少有以下五个方面:发音、音标、重读、语调、节奏。这几个方面不是零零散散、相互孤立的,而是相互联系、彼此渗透的。例如,重读就决定了字母的拼音规则。有些同学对于那些国际音标个个都认得,而且叫他拼读起来也较准确,但一放入单词中或句子中就走了形、变了样,使人们听起来怪怪的。其实,他们就是没有重视重读和语调。事实上,如不在发音上努力做些机械性的模仿练习,是很难提高语音教学的。但那些机械性的重复模仿练习多了,学生们也会感到厌倦。因此在教学中也要结合许多有意义且丰富多彩的练习活动。

三、提高英语语音教学的方法与活动

(一)感知活动,目的在于培养学生确认和分辨不同的读音,因为对读音的正确感知是进行听力理解的前提。具体方法如下:

1.使用最小对立体。最小对立体是一对一对的单词,它们在拼写形式上非常相似,只有一个字母在排列上是不同的(王蔷,2006)。教师们可以随便地拼读其中的一个,然后叫同学们进行辨别。如《牛津高中英语模块一》Wordlist 2中以c或s开头的单词中,有这样一些:

can/cash

skin/skip

slam/slim

2.排序。教师们把每组三个三个的单词每次以不同的顺序读出来,然后叫同学们以阿拉伯数字标出教师所读的单词的顺序。如《牛津高中英语模块一》irregular verbs就有许多很好的例子。

bit,bid,hit.

let,led,met.

win,won,run

3.找特例。教师可以一次读一组词语,然后叫同学们辨别第几个单词或读音是不同于其它几组的。下列单词同样来自于irregular verbs:

let,let,lent,let

run,ran,run,run

led,lead,lead,lead

(二)发音练习,其目的在于培养学生正确发音的能力,其形式、方法也多种多样,如机械性的模仿,情境中有意义的发音等。笔者分别举出以下几例:

1.听与模仿。同学们重复教师所说的。这类练习能帮助同学们操练单个的发音、单个的单词、单词群和句子。如在上Unit 3内容之前,叫同学们自己拼出课后的单词,然后教师们以标准的英语语调带读。

2.造句。教师给出一系列单词,这些单词应尽量包括相类似的发音,并要求同学们尽可能地多使用给出的单词造句。造出的句子没有必要有实际意义或很强的逻辑性。最好造出一些较为幽默的句子。如笔者在上课时就提供了《牛津高中英语模块一》Unit 3 Looking good,feeling good中课后的Wordlist中间的一系列单词作为活动内容,叫同学们以一列单词造句。

3.运用有意义的语境。在一段有意义的语篇中,一定包括了若干重要的发音。教师要使同学们在操练有意义的练习时,同时注意这些发音。如Unit 3 Workbook中的Writing,第二段就是很好的朗读材料来操练元音的发音,可叫同学们进行尝试。原文如下:

Now Tommie is taller than me at 175 cm. He is in high school and is the monitor of his class. He is not shy any more. He told me a lot of interesting things about his class when we met. He is very popular with the students and the teachers like him too. He is working very hard at his lessons now, because he wants to go to Peking University.

4.使用图片。让学生们根据图片编出故事并自己讲出来,使用的句子不要太长,最好是类似绕口令的形式,同时提醒他们那些特别的发音,尤其是元音的发音。如Unit 3 Workbook Writing Part B给大家展现了几幅图片,叙述了李亮从过度肥胖到下定决心锻炼身体、平衡饮食,再到最后恢复健康的过程。同学们有可能说到:

He was overweight and a little lazy a year ago.

That time, he got tired easily and didn’t like sport.

Chicken and chips were his favourite.

Then, bad results did he realize.

There were changes that he decided.

He started running, jumping and wrestling.

He started eating fruits and vegetables.

Now he is a happy and healthy boy.

5.学习唱英语歌曲。一些歌词不太长,单词较简单的英语歌曲特别注意节奏与韵脚,对学生的语音学习有较大的帮助。如笔者就曾经教过一首题为Sing的英语歌曲,学生积极性较高,兴趣极浓,歌词如下:

Sing out loud, sing out strong.

Sing of good things, not bad.

Sing of happy, not sad.

Sing, sing a song.

四、 结语

总而言之,语音在整个语言教学中的重要作用要求学生和教师都必须重视它。目前我国高中阶段的语音教学方面还存在很多问题,通过平时对高中生英语语音状况的检查以及高中英语教师对语音课堂教学现状的了解,笔者认为语音学习应在整个英语学习中占重要地位,并应贯穿于英语教学始终的结论,因而提出了上述适合高中英语语音教学的具体建议和方法,希望以此来帮助学生真正做到学以致用,帮助教师们有效地进行语音教学。
